“Hey! Sael!” Abby chimed, promptly hopping onto her friend’s back, “Why’d you sneak away? Niko, Raven, and I were about to head into town to contribute to the harvest.”

Sael was silent, seemingly entranced by her surroundings.

Abby tucked her basket behind one arm and leaned forward, trying to get a good look at Sael’s face. She was a bit worried by her silence. “Hey,” she murmured, “I can tell something’s wrong. Do you want to talk about it?”

“Huh?” Sael suddenly stammered, “Oh. I’m fine.”

Abby leaned back once more, frowning with concern. “What’d you do with your apples? You had a full basket before.”

“I gave them to the big gord-‘mon in the middle of the forest,” she stated quietly, “It seemed to like them.”

“Oh. Well, you can still come into town with us, if you’d like!”

Sael stopped walking and glanced towards the auburn-colored grass. “I think… I’ll just stay here. I have a few things to think about.”

Abby patted Sael’s back and hopped off. “Just let me know if you need to talk. We should be back soon.”

Sael smiled slightly. “Don’t keep them waiting.”
